Last month, all 26 of my immediate family headed to the south of France. With some of the family living across the pond in New York and New Jersey, it was the first time we had all been together. Finding a gite that could cater for 26 was tricky, so instead we found a chateau…with an outdoor cinema.
Of course, I didn’t feel as if I was experiencing it properly unless I took my camera along to document the days.
The days were spent lazing by the pool, reading each other’s books, picking fresh figs and grapes from the trees and vines, playing Kalooki, watching Jailhouse Rock & The Godfathers & The Last Waltz, painting each other’s nails in shades of wild, swatting flies, playing pool, eating amazing food, running from mice, impromptu games of rounders and catch, shooting Super 8, climbing into suitcases, and enjoying rather copious amounts of alcohol. Just call us The Von-Trapps.
