Reflections on 2010

With a new year comes an inevitable look back at the one that’s leaving us, and 2010 has been a pretty amazing year for Jodie Chapman Photography.  This was the year I went completely full time with my business, and I’m happy to say I have never looked back. Before setting up in 2007, I worked full time and then part-time calculating pensions for local government.  It’s a healthy industry for a solid, dependable job, but that’s exactly the opposite of what I wanted.  I wanted to love what I do for a living, and 2010 was the year when this happened. I never imagined I would be travelling the world for business, and this year I’ve been lucky enough to visit Provence, Paris, Ibiza and New York for weddings and shoots.

As well as photographing weddings and portraits, I have taken on new avenues that include teaching at The Trained Eye, a photographic training school in Buckinghamshire.  I’ve loved this opportunity; it’s been wonderful to meet new and aspiring photographers with bags of enthusiasm for what lies ahead of them.

It’s my absolute pleasure to have photographed and gotten to know so many wonderful people this year.  I love being with people on one of the happiest days of their lives.  I love being given the responsibility of creating beautiful memories of such an important event.  I love it when a bride turns up an enquiry meeting with a folder full of images that inspire her, and nearly all the images are ones I’ve taken.  It’s a pretty amazing feeling.

To all my 2010 clients, thank you for having me as your photographer.  Many of you have gone above and beyond to show your appreciation, and I am honoured to count a number of you as friends. I hope you have all had a wonderful first year as marrieds, and a big congratulations goes to the many of you who are expecting/have welcomed a little bundle of joy into your lives.

To all my 2011 and beyond clients….welcome!  I’m so looking forward to working with you over the coming year and creating gorgeous memories for you.  I hope the following favourite images get you excited for your own photographs.

An Oscar-worthy list of THANK YOUs follow a {rather large…} selection of my favourite images from 2010…
