Elvis’s Honeymoon Hideaway, Palm Springs

This trip, we visited the house where Elvis and Priscilla honeymooned and called home for a year. I’ve been in love with Elvis since I was a kid, when my dad would play his records and I’d spend the school holidays watching Jailhouse Rock. That love has never faded, and I’m happy that Greg has since joined me in being a fan.

If you’re ever in Palm Springs, I recommend spending an hour or two taking a tour of the house. Nicknamed “The House of Tomorrow”, the architecture by Robert Alexander is stunning and one of a kind. It looks like an atomic spaceship nestled in amongst the residential streets, and the open-plan living of the interior is pretty breathtaking. The tour is hosted by an eccentric elderly couple, who have filled the house with random artifacts that they think Elvis would have liked..

In short, it’s the perfect Palm Springs pad; modernist, unexpected and always with a sense of humour.
