Claridge’s Wedding – Sophie + Patrick, Mayfair London

A Claridge’s winter wedding.

A Claridge’s wedding is a gorgeous affair. There’s the Art Deco styling, the impeccable food, soft lighting and an unmistakable sense of glamour. Add to that a ceremony at St Luke’s Church in Chelsea, soft winter sunshine and happy faces, and you can see why I loved photographing Sophie and Patrick’s day.

The day began with bridal preparations at Sophie’s parents’ home on the King’s Road.  When everyone was dressed in their finery, they rode in vintage Rolls Royces to the ceremony. I’m not sure I’ve seen such a jawdropping church before; the Georgian stone makes the prettiest backdrop for pictures. It’s impossible to ignore the sense of history emanating from the walls (Charles Dickens himself got married there).

Afterwards, guests hopped on a Routemaster bus to take them to Claridge’s for the wedding reception whilst we took pictures as the sun set. When Patrick and Sophie joined their guests a short time later, champagne was flowing and the party was in full swing.

Thanks goes to Edward at Claridge’s for his expertise on the day, and of course, to Patrick and Sophie – Thank you for having me capture your wedding; one of the most important days of your lives.  I’m so pleased you love your wedding pictures and hope they will bring back happy memories for years to come.
