Where are you based?

I am a wedding photographer in the south-east of England but often travel further afield.  There are no travel fees for any weddings that take place within 2 hours of my base in Kent; reasonable costs are charged for any weddings further away that may require a night (or two’s) accommodation.  Over the years I have photographed weddings in Italy, Spain, Provence, Ibiza, Germany and the Amalfi Coast.  I have also photographed engagement shoots in New York, Paris and Spain.

What are your prices?

My fee for 2016/17 weddings starts at £2300.  I am able to design a bespoke quote if you wish, and special prices are available for midweek weddings (Mon-Thu).  I take on a strictly limited number of weddings per year to ensure I provide an excellent service to my clients.

Do you work alone?

The majority of the weddings I shoot, I shoot alone.  This enables me to “disappear” within the crowd so that I can capture the day without being noticed.  Of course, a second shooter can be arranged for an extra cost if you have a particularly large wedding or would like an extra camera and perspective to document your day.

How do you work? What is your style? Are there a lot of formal pictures?

My style of wedding photography is beautiful, romantic, timeless.  These three words encapsulate my approach.  For much of the day I am quite photo-journalistic in style, capturing the action unseen.  I always recommend my clients factor in approximately 30 minutes for their portraits during the drinks reception, so that we can spend some time creating some beautiful images of just you both.  I will often get a bit more involved here in terms of directing how to stand – the aim being to ensure the pictures look as natural as possible.  Clients who are a little more shy of the camera often prefer this approach to not being posed at all, as being directed helps them to feel confident that they are in good hands.  A handful of “formal” group shots will be captured during the drinks reception so that you have some pictures to treasure of you with your nearest and dearest.

I shoot a combination of film and digital.  Film has a beautiful luminousity that makes it perfect for portraits, whereas digital is fantastic for shooting in low light situations.  Being a film wedding photographer often means I am classed as a “fine art photographer”.  I’m not one for labels, but it is true that I favour a classic approach.  It is so important to me that your images stay beautiful for future generations to enjoy.
